Michael offers a well-rounded private percussion teaching experience for students at all levels and all ages with an emphasis on learning through performing the music you love, and can tailor the lesson experience to your individual needs and goals.
While Michael specializes in contemporary percussion repertoire, he is well versed in the orchestral and rudimental settings as well, and can mix-and-match genres of percussion depending on what you are looking to learn. Michael offers in person lessons to those who are available within his area, and will accommodate online lessons through your preferred service (Zoom, Discord, FaceTime). Each student will participate in a studio recital at the end of every eight-week unit in an opportunity to gain performance experience and show off what they've been working on. This studio recital gives the members of the studio a chance to perform for one another and exchange feedback, as well as network within the tight-knit percussion community. Pricing
Michael's lessons operate on a "pay to play" basis, meaning payment must be received before the lesson begins. This is for the ease of both parties, and to ensure there is never an accumulation of late payments.
Private lessons are offered in 45 and 60 minute durations, and are billed at $35 and $45 respectively (A one time 30 minute trial lesson is also available for $20 for new students). Lessons may either be paid on a per week basis, or at a slight discount in a lump sum at the beginning of an eight-week unit for $300. If a lesson is cancelled with more than 2 hours notice, no penalty will be imposed, and the lesson will be rescheduled. If the lesson is cancelled within 2 hours, or the student does not attend without notice, payment will still be expected. Ancillary Service InformationMichael offers masterclasses and clinics, live and digitally, priced on a case-by-case basis, as well as residencies when available. These events can be catered to the host's needs, and can feature anything from solo preparation to chamber coaching.

What you can do as a parentThe most important part of supporting a young student who joins as a part of my studio is encouragement. Growing as an artist is a whirlwind of emotions and can be a vulnerable experience for young students, and your assistance as their number one fan is critical to growing to their fullest potential. Listen to them play, ask them questions, and show that you are as invested in them as they are in their music.
